GALESBURG — The Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team scored a pair of early goals and went on to defeat Bryant & Stratton 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon in a Region IV contest at Kleine Field.

The Chargers (3-1-2 overall, 1-1-2 Region IV) went ahead in the sixth minute as Erick Suarez (Monmouth, Ill./Monmouth-Roseville) set up Arlen Navarro (Miami, Fla./Sports Leadership & Management), who rocketed a shot from the top of the box into the net.

Sandburg struck again in the eighth minute following a corner kick as Pedro Henrique Gomes (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Colegio Objetivo Ribeirao Pires) found a loose ball near the right post off a scramble and put it in for a 2-0 lead.

The Bobcats (2-4) lost a man to a red card late in the first half, and the Chargers added to their lead in the 60th minute as Suarez picked up his second assist of the match on Kevin Murillo’s (Miami, Fla./Sports Leadership & Management) first goal of the season.

Iker Sanchez (Miami, Fla./Immaculata LaSalle) made two saves in net for Sandburg, which recorded its second clean sheet of the season.
