Judith “Judy” C. Jones, age 80, of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 2:05 P.M. on Friday, September 6, 2019 at the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.

On November 18, 1938, Judy was born in Kewanee, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Mary (Bojeski) Ramsey.  She was reared and educated in the Kewanee area, graduating from Wethersfield High School.  In June of 1956, Judy was married to Wilbur Miles Jones, Jr. in Kewanee.

Left to cherish Judy’s memory are her children: Jody L. Jones of Galesburg, Julie (and Artie) Jorganson of Virginia, Illinois, Wayne “Mike” (and Sherry) Jones of Galva, Illinois, Wanda M. Jones of Moscow Mills, Missouri, Scott (and Sandi) Deppe of Galesburg; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three siblings: Oscar “Butch” (and Alice) Ramsey of Maryland, Peter “Pete” Ramsey of Kewanee, and Susan “Susie” Sterling of Galva.  Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and her special friend of many years, Virginia “Gin” Deppe.

Judy worked as a Mental Health Technician for the former Galesburg State Research Hospital for over twelve years, retiring in 1978.  She was always proud of the fact that she shared a birthday with Mickey Mouse.  She loved the great outdoors and never turned down an opportunity to go fishing or camping or both; she enjoyed being constantly on the go and was very active.  She was a people person who never met a stranger and loved being out in a crowd.  Judy never missed a class reunion and enjoyed catching up with her former Wethersfield classmates.  Other past times that she enjoyed included playing fast pitch soft ball and bowling; Judy even played semi-pro women’s fast pitch softball for a time.  Above all else, she loved spending quality time with her family and friends; they were the most important part of her life.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A Celebration of Life will be held on September 21, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Judy’s home, 1153 Lane Avenue, Galesburg, Illinois 61401.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to OSF Saint Francis. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home & Crematory of Knoxville is assisting the family.  Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made through www,hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
