Devin Lawrence rushed for a career-high 154 yards, but the Scots couldn’t run pasat Wartburg, falling on the Knights home turf 38-9.

Wartburg jumped out to a 10-0 before the Scots broke through. Brennan White hit Jake Uryasz for a 42-yard scoring strike on their first possession of the second quarter to trim the hole to 10-7.

After the Scots forced the Knights to punt on their ensuing possession, Wartburg scored a Pick Six on Monmouth’s third-and-11 at their own 14. Wartburg finished the half with a 21-point second quarter and tacked on a pair of fourth quarter TDs after the Scots kept the Knights in check in the third period following a lengthy weather delay.

Monmouth will get this weekend off as the Midwest Conference schools observe the Bye Week before resuming play Sept. 28 when the Scots host St. Norbert.
