The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes Prepare to Face Off Against Illini-West

The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes football team is preparing for a return to Illini-West with a week of rest.

After a tough loss of 35-7 against the Princeville Princes last Friday, the Abingdon-Avon football team will get a week to rest up after the Martinsville Bluestreaks forfeited this friday’s game due to lack of players and too many injured players.

Abingdon-Avon’s Head Coach Rick Quinn said that although the team lost last Friday, they did a great job running the ball at the beginning of the game, and 3rd quarter’s defense did an excellent job keeping Princeville at bay.

Coach Quinn speaks more about how he felt about last Friday’s game, and their plan moving forward…

“I thought we fought really hard, it’s just we left some things out there. We talked about all week that a lot of these games with teams that are fairly close, come down to five or six plays, and they made those five or six plays. So we lick our wounds, we get better, and we go to work.”

The Abingdon-Avon Tornadoes face the Illini-West Chargers next Friday, September 20th at 7:00 pm in Carthage, Illinois.
