Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 15th, 2019:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior cross country runner, Carlos Serratos. Carlos had a great day at the biggest regular season meet of the year at the First to the Finish in Peoria. He placed 67th out of 561 runners. Earlier this season, Carlos finished 3rd at the Prime Beef Run in Monmouth.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is Paige McKeown. Paige tied for meet medalist honors in a win over Rockridge last week and was her team’s low scorer in a victory over Sherrard, as well. Earlier this season, she placed in the top-10 at the Mercer County Invitational with a 9th place finish.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Sadie Lenz. Sadie was, and has been, a big part of the great start to the Heat’s season so far. Last week, she handed out 12 assists and hustled her way to five digs in an impressive straight-set win over perennial power Sherrard.

The Abingdon-Avon Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, McKayla Sloan. McKayla has led the Tornadoes in assists in every match so far this season. She dished out 12 assists in a straight-set win over ROWVA last week.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys soccer player, Kyler Smith. The Streaks have gotten off to a great start and Kyler has been a big part of that. He recorded two shutouts last week against Peoria Christian and East Peoria. Kyler garnered 13 total saves in those two matches.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, McDonough Telephone Cooperative (mdtc), Tompkins State Bank and Kehoe Eye Care!!
