West Central Football Team Kicks Off the Season This Friday

The West Central Heat varsity football team starts their season on Friday, September 6th, and Coach Jason Kirby is ready to support his team however he can.

Their first game will be at home against the Astoria/VIT Rebels, who have already been on the field once so far this year, and Coach Kirby hopes to give his kids the confidence to take the win in the meantime.
Coach Kirby explained what he thinks his team needs to do to be successful this year and in the future…

“Well, no shock, we want to be able to run football, I think our flash passes need to be better than they were last year, I think we have the opportunity to do that, and doggone it, we need to be good on defense. If you want me to be one hundred percent honest, we really got after our kids about if we’re goign to make an identity for this football program, we’re going be great defense players, and we have to be that tough, rugged kid who’s willing to get out there and play great defense.”

For Jason Kirby, instilling confidence in his players is the most important strategy to achieving success, and he is optimistic about creating a new identity for his team that encourages confidence.
