Darlene M. Cox, 91, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 11:05 p.m., Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at OSF Holy Family Medical Center, Monmouth.

She was born on December 13, 1927 in Roseville, IL, the daughter of Russell A. and Macie A. (Cannon) Munson.  Darlene was raised and educated in Roseville; she attended Ward Grade School and Roseville High School.

Darlene owned and operated the Sunshine Tap in St. David, IL for 25 years, retiring in 1989.  She moved back to Monmouth in 1990.  Darlene volunteered at the Strom Center and the Share Food Bank in Monmouth. She enjoyed knitting, working in the yard, and her flower garden.  Most of all, Darlene enjoyed spending time, teasing, cooking and baking for her family and friends.      

Surviving Darlene are two sons, Orville (Laurna) Cox and Drexel Cox, both of Monmouth, IL; her grandchildren, A.J. (Danielle) Cox of Monmouth, IL, Taner (Joan) Cox of Austin, TX, Levi Cox of Columbus, OH, Tyson Cox of Indianapolis, IN, Amber Estrello of Lake Jackson, TX, and Cory Cox of Dallas, TX.  Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Chasty Estrello, Issac Estrello, Jacob Estrello, Mia Estrello; one great great granddaughter, Reign Estrello; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Memorial Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Visitation will be prior to the service from 9:30-11:00 a.m.  A private family interment will be in Roseville Memorial Park, Roseville, IL.  Cremation rites have been accorded.  Memorials can be made to Strom Center.  For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit, www.mcguireanddaviesfuneralhome.com.
