Edward E. House, 82, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 2:27 am, Saturday, October 5, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
He was born June 18, 1937 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Dell J. and Winifred (Gilmore) House. Ed was raised and educated in Monmouth, IL, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1955. He later served a 4 year apprenticeship at the John Deere Works through Black Hawk College.
Ed served 8 years with the Illinois Army National Guard.
Ed married Tjodie Hughes at the Little York Methodist Church on June 7, 1959 and she survives.
Ed was a Journeyman Machinist Repairman for John Deere for 30 years before retiring in 1994. In his younger years, Ed worked at the Ford Garage in Monmouth and the Warren County Garage.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Monmouth and member of the UAW Local #434 where he served on the CAP Council. Ed enjoyed golfing, hunting, traveling, spending time with his family and friends. He loved cars and showing his Corvette. Ed won the National Super Chevy Car show with his 1980 Corvette. At one time he belonged to the Dragon Coolies Car Club and was a proud Democrat.
Survivors include his wife, Tjodie Hughes House of Monmouth, IL; his 3 children, Doug (Kim) House of Rock Island, Brenda K. (Jeffrey) Nimrick of Monmouth and Will D. (Kelly) House of Blue Grass, IA; 8 grandchildren, Tyler Nimrick, Thomas House, Ryan Nimrick, Evan House, Alyssa House, Hannah House, Spencer House and Anthony House; 3 great grandchildren, Kynlee Nimrick, Thomas House, Jr. and Kye Nimrick; his brother, John (Carole) House of Roseville, Il and his sister, Shirley (Thomas) Flannigan of Kingsland, TX; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at the First Christian Church of Monmouth. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 8, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth. Interment will be at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth, IL.
