JACKSONVILLE, Illinois – The Prairie Fire women’s golf team finished in fifth place at the SLIAC Championship.

Knox shot a combined 729 over two rounds and earned the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Shelby Keen earned First Team All-Conference honors for her third place finish, carding a 157 over two rounds.

Sam Nichols finished in 9th place (164) to find her way on the Second Team All-Conference.

“Shelby and Sam had one of the best seasons in the history of Knox golf by finishing inside the top-10 in about every event we played in,” said head coach KC Harding. “They were both very deserving of earning all-conference honors and for Sam to do it all four years is pretty unbelievable. Shelby played solid both days and had her chances to win, however she had a few breaks that didn’t go her way and that’s just how this game goes. Those two are very special players in this program and I am excited to see how Shelby does next year.”

Mariah Barlow also earned a place on the All-Sportsmanship Team.

“I would like to thank my entire roster for giving it 100% since they arrived in August,” added Harding. “We had some bumps in the road but for it being the first time in 10 years we competed as a team they have a lot to be proud of. To be honored by the entire league with earning the sportsmanship award says a lot about the players we have at Knox and for that I am thankful.”
