Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Oct. 25, 2019

Volleyball

The final local high school volleyball conference championship was decided last night. The Orion Chargers and Fulton Steamers were tied atop the Three Rivers Conference’s West Division coming into the night. Following each team getting wins, they will share the division title. The Orion Chargers had no issue beating Morrison, 25-8, 25-4, while Fulton defeated Sherrard 25-12, 25-12. Orion ends the regular season with a record of (33-1) overall.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titans will finish 3rd in the West Central Conference’s North Division after getting a road win over Camp Point Central last night. The Titans end their division slate at (2-2) and are (24-11) overall. Quincy Notre Dame won the North with a (4-0) record and Macomb was 2nd at (3-1). Carly Gillen had seven kills, six blocks and five digs to lead the Titans in all three categories. Delaney Woodard handed out 21 assists.

Galesburg beat Richwoods 25-20, 25-14 to end their regular season with a record of (16-19). Lauren Livingston had six kills to lead the Streaks. Maddie Carlson dished out 14 assists and Haley Bennowitz hustled her way to eight digs.

It was Macomb over Midwest Central 25-9, 25-17 to give the Bombers an overall record of (28-7) heading into next week’s regionals. Autumn Kindhart led Macomb with six kills, while Maggie Vallillo had ten digs and Avery Rexroat led the team in assists with 21.

Knoxville lost to (34-1) Illini Bluffs 25-15, 25-11 and Brimfield beat BPC 25-19, 25-11.

Junior High

The ICS Lady Trojans split a pair of girls basketball games with Sherrard last night. The Trojan 7th grade lost 25-14. Addison Gillen had 7 points for ICS. The ICS 8th grade won 26-18. Reece Bertelsen had 14 points & Carmyn Huston had 10 for ICS.
