Scots Volleyball Pushes Lady Blues in Glennie

Share

Monmouth finished strong, but couldn’t quite get over the hump in a 3-0 loss to Illinois College Tuesday night at Monmouth’s Glennie Gym.

The teams played even in the first set until IC went on a four-point run to push their lead to 16-10. The Scots rallied back, but could get no closer than 22-18, dropping the set 25-19.

Only two points separated the teams in each of the second and third sets. Trailing 17-15 in Set 2, the Scots kept the pressure on, knotting the set at 22-all on an Ashley Farris kill. IC then escaped with a 25-23 win in the set. Monmouth came back from a 10-4 deficit in Set 3, eventually knotting the set at 24-all before IC scored back-to-back kills to win the set 26-24.

Monmouth continues Midwest Conference play this weekend, hosting Ripon at 7 p.m. Friday and Lawrence at 1 on Saturday.
