Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 20, 2019:

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Ryley Huston. Ryley was an all-tournament team member at the Sherrard Invitational. Her well-rounded totals of 18 digs, 18 kills, 16 assists and three aces helped her team to a perfect (5-0) record in Pool A as the Titans finished as co-champions.

The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore girls golfer, Claire Carnes. Claire saved her best for last this season as she carded a career-best score of 95 to place 34th at the Peru St. Bede Class 1A Sectional at Spring Creek Golf Course. She was consistently one of the four scorers for the Red Storm throughout the season.

The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Brianna Kinkaid. Brianna was instrumental in her team’s runner up finish in the Bushnell-Prairie City Invitational Tournament. In the five matches her team played, she hustled her way to 33 digs and served for 20 points, six of which were aces. Brianna leads her team in points served for the season and is second on the club in aces.

The Abingdon-Avon Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys cross country runner, Hunter Mason. Hunter was the highest finishing male runner for A-Town in the Amboy Columbus Day Invitational and also the Peoria Heights Patriots Invite. Earlier this season, he placed 24th at the Prairieland Conference championships.

The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys cross country runner, Ben Vasquez. Ben earned his way onto the Western Big Six All-Conference’s First team with a fantastic finish at Bob Mays Park in Quincy. His time over the 3-mile course of 16:22 was good enough for 7th place overall.
