Commercial Motor Vehicle Rollover Crash

The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 7
What: Semi-truck rollover with lane blockage
Where: I-74 East Mile Marker 40 (6 miles north of Galesburg)
When: November 27, 2019 @ 8:00 am
Vehicle(s): Unit 1: Semi-truck and trailer
Unit 2: Semi-truck and trailer
Who: Diver 1: Lanie S. Anderson, F, 42, Des Moines, IA
Driver 2: Carl E, Anderson, M, 67, Cincinnati, OH
Preliminary: A semi-truck hauling a trailer experienced high winds, lost control, rolled on its side, and came to rest across both lanes blocking I-74 east bound at Mile Marker 40. A second semi-truck and trailer behind Unit 1 drove into the right (west side) ditch to avoid the crash and remained upright. Traffic was diverted off of the interstate at Woodhull. Illinois State Police, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Woodhull PD and Henderson Fire Department responded to the scene. Eastbound I-74 was shut down from 8:00 am to 11:00 am for crash investigation. Due to the high winds it was deemed dangerous to attempt to upright and tow the overturned semi. It was moved off the roadway and will be recovered at a later time.
Driver of Unit 1 was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries.
