Randy Hovind will be sworn in as the City of Galesburg Fire Chief on Friday, November 22, 2019. The event is open to the public and will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Council Chambers at Galesburg City Hall, 55 West Tompkins Street.
Hovind has worked for the Galesburg Fire Department for the last 20 years, holding the ranks of Firefighter, Fire Captain, and most recently Fire Marshall at the rank of Battalion Chief. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Western Illinois University in Fire Science Administration and Management, as well as many professional certifications related to fire, safety, and emergency management.
For those unable to attend the swearing-in ceremony, there will also be an opportunity for the public to meet the Fire Chief before the December 2 City Council meeting. A brief reception will be held at Galesburg City Hall from 5:00 – 5:30 on Monday, December 2, 2019.
