Monmouth-Roseville High School senior Carly Gillen signed her letter of intent yesterday afternoon to play volleyball at the next level. Gillen will take her talents to the University of Missouri Kansas City. Prairie Communications Sports Director, Shawn Temple, got a chance to talk to Carly after her signing and asked her how the recruiting process went with the Roos.

The Division I Roos were (21-11) in 2018 under head coach Christi Posey. They currently have a record of (15-9) this season. Gillen, a 4-year starter for the Monmouth-Roseville Titan volleyball program, smashed 365 kills during her senior year this fall, giving her over 1,200 kills for her career. During her time at M-R, Gillen was a 4-time All-West Central Conference 1st team member and was named to the Illinois Prep Volleyball All-State Special Mention list following her junior season. A 4.0 student, Carly also exels at another sport at Monmouth-Roseville. She is getting ready for her final basketball season for the Titans and is coming off a Class 1A first team all-state year during her junior season. A season in which she went over the 1,000 career point mark in early January.
