Eureka, IL – The Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team picked up its fourth straight win and earned its 10th victory of the season in an 84-59 blowout at Eureka JV on Tuesday night.
The Chargers (10-1) led 43-34 at halftime and finished with four players in double figures, led by 14 points from sophomore James Jones (Springfield, Ill./Lanphier). Jones also had four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Sophomore Scott Gowan (Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) scored 13 — highlighted by a 6-for-6 night at the free-throw line — in addition to four rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Freshman Jean Luc Wilson (East Moline, Ill./United Township) came off the bench to score 12 on 5-of-6 shooting. Wilson connected on 2 of his 3 3-point tries and grabbed six boards.
Freshman guard Jahlin Parker (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) recorded his first double-digit scoring game as a Charger, finishing with 11 points as well as four assists, three rebounds and two steals.
Sophomore Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) was held scoreless on three shots, but he chaired Sandburg in both rebounding (10) and assists (five).
UP NEXT FOR SANDBURG
5 p.m. Friday against Kalamazoo Valley in the Elgin Classic. The Chargers will then play Elgin or Truman at noon or 2 p.m. Saturday.
