Berwick native, Sydney Killey, will be competing in the 2020 Miss. Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant in Springfield, Illinois. Killey will travel to Springfield to compete in the four day event starting January 16th. Killey will be on stage with 72 other fair queens in hopes of becoming the next Miss. Illinois County Fair Queen. Since being crowned the 2005 Little Miss Warren County, the 2011 Junior Miss Warren County, 2016 Warren County Prime Beef Princess and now the 2019 Miss Warren County, Killey has been preparing for the state title.
“So I did Little Miss and Junior Miss, and with that they keep building as to what you have to do in the communication part, and for me just really utilizing the Prime Beef Pageant and the Warren County Fair Queen system pageant is something that I really enjoy because you are adding each topic, so you are adding a 30 second speech and you are adding a minute speech. So being able to better your communication skills the older that you get is something I think not only myself, but other girls in Warren County have been able to utilize.”
Killey will compete in the evening session of the preliminary portion of the pageant as contestant number 60. She will compete in an interview, swimsuit, evening gown, and speech in hopes of advancing to Sunday’s final portion of the pageant.
