GALESBURG, Illinois— The Knox Prairie Fire women’s basketball team routed the Lincoln Christian Red Lions today at home, winning 92-48. The impressive victory continues their six-game winnnig streak, and gives them a winning record at home.

In the first half, Knox used their superior depth to wear out the Red Lions on both ends of the floor. Jarrelyn McCall put up 12 points to go along with four rebounds as she showed impressive effort for the Prairie Fire. Knox shot 51.4% from the floor and forced 16 turnovers, as their intensity and physicality proved to be too much for Lincoln Christian to overcome. In addition to McCall, Nyah Daniels put up 10 points off the bench, and NaKeva Mack went 4-for-5 from the floor to give Knox a 43-27 lead at the half.

The Prairie Fire’s intense style of play began to pay dividends in full in the second half, as the bench of the Red Lions could not compete. Knox held Lincoln Christian to only 24.2% shooting, and they forced 13 more turnovers. Offensively, they used their sheer volume of shots to break further away, putting up 49 points using impressive cuts to the basket, generating open looks that they converted. Kyra Huffman put up a double double in the second half alone, and Knox rode their excellent play to another quality win.

McCall finished with 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Knox. Huffman added 20 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Mack and Daniels tacked on 10 points apiece.

“I thought we played a great second half,” said head coach Emily Cline. “It was nice to see us pick up after halftime and to have so many contribute. Jarrelyn and Kyra were really solid again tonight.”

Knox plays their final non-conference game of the season when they travel to Iowa Wesleyan on Monday at 7:00 p.m.
