Mrs. Marjorie V. “Marge” Coon, 81, of Galesburg died at 1:54 p.m., Sunday, December 22, 2019 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.

Marjorie was born December 21, 1938 in Galesburg to Mr. Harry Davis and Susan (Wilkins) Stotts. She was raised by her mother Susan and stepfather Harold Stotts She married Dale L. Coon on August 2, 1954 in Burlington, Iowa. After 50 years of marriage, Dale preceded her in death October 14, 2004.

She is survived by her four children Daniel (Vickie) Coon of Galesburg; Gil (Pamela) Coon of Knoxville; Debra (James Penn) Wilson of East Galesburg; and Pamela Coon of Galesburg, one brother John (Janeen) Davis of Galesburg, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father, mother, stepfather, her husband, Dale, one brother Robert Davis, one sister Mary Reeser, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Marge was a lifelong resident of Galesburg. She worked in physical therapy at OSF St. Mary Medical Center for over 28 years and an additional 10 years in the medical records department before retiring in April 2010. Marge attended Gordon Behrents Senior Center for almost 3 years where she made many friends. She was a survivor and advocate for Breast Cancer. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years. Marge was an avid cubs fan, friend to all animals and loved making pies using her secret crust recipe—especially for birthdays and holidays. She will be remembered for her giving spirit.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Rev. Bob Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be donated to the Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be given at www.h-p-w.com.
