As part of an ongoing discussion regarding new legislation the States of Illinois has introduced on video gaming machines, the City of Monmouth has reviewed ordinances from various communities throughout the state. City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher, shares a possible gaming ordinance and how it would be applied to Monmouth:
“The majority thinking of Council members might be to establish a limit of five video gaming terminals per establishment and then also create a fee. The license portion for the establishment would be $50 annually per machine and then there would be a per terminal fee of $250 annually. The $50 license fee would be the responsibility of the establishment owner and the $250 per terminal fee would be paid for by the gaming vendors themselves,” Steinbrecher reports.
No direct action was taken on this item and it will return to the Monmouth City Council when a draft ordinance by the city attorney is ready for consideration.
