After three years of dedicated service, Shaun Pritchard announced he will be stepping down as Western Illinois Regional Council (WIRC) Executive Director effective January 3, 2020.  During their December 12 meeting, the WIRC & CAA Boards of Directors approved WIRC employee Nathan Cobb as Interim Executive Director.

Cobb has worked at WIRC in multiple departments over the last ten years, and has extensive knowledge of the agency’s services and programs.  From June 2009 to December 2011, he assessed homes as a Housing Specialist for the Illinois and Federal Weatherization programs.  From January 2012 to February 2013, he worked with community and economic development related programs and projects as an Assistant Planner.  In February 2013, he was promoted to Principal Planner for WIRC, which entailed preparing and administering public infrastructure grants.  Since January 2014, Cobb has served as Transit Director of McDonough County Public Transportation.

Pritchard is confident the agency will be in good hands during this transition.  “I have such deep admiration for the dedication of our staff and board members,” said Pritchard.  “I’m excited about what the staff, Boards of Directors, and citizens of this region will accomplish together in the years to come.”  During Pritchard’s tenure, the agency has nearly doubled the number of people in their service area thanks to the addition of Knox County programs and the membership of some of the most populous cites in western Illinois.

WIRC, based in Macomb, provides technical assistance to local governments and elected officials facing complex community and economic development issues.  WIRC’s Community Action Agency department provides efficient and diverse human services to help individuals and families help themselves, as well as providing services to survivors of domestic and/or sexual violence.  For more information, visit wirpc.org, find Western Illinois Regional Council on Facebook, or call (309) 837-3941.
