Melody K. Melvin-Lacy, 62, of Galesburg, went into the loving embrace of our Lord, where she will stand tall with no pain and reunite with her loved ones who have gone before her, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

She was born August 31, 1957, in Avon, the daughter of Malcolm and Alice Jeannine (Barker) Melvin.

She is survived by her mother, Alice Jeannine Melvin of Bushnell; four sisters, Patricia Bonecutter of Avon, Peggy (Brian Bentzinger) Tracey of Bushnell, Christina Swank of Abingdon, and Laura (Richard Watters) Melvin of Oneida; a special friend, David Simpson of Galesburg; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, James Michael Melvin.

Melody was very talented, excelling at decorating and making crafts and jewelry.  She loved animals.  Above all else, Melody valued her family.

Cremation will be accorded.  Her family will host a celebration of life from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Harley’s Reception Hall, 2243 Grand Ave., Galesburg.  Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel is handling cremation arrangements for the family.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
