The City of Monmouth is undergoing the first stages in planning for the reconstruction and resurfacing of West Harlem Avenue from the bypass to Main Street. The project would cost an estimated $2.2 million dollars because of the infrastructure beneath the road including the water main will have to be replaced first. The engineering agreement is for a phase 1 environmental study and is required in order to access federal road funds for the project. Mayor Rod Davies says the water main under the road has been a problem over the years as reflected by the number of patches visible because of repairs by the Public Works Department.
City Council approved the use of motor fuel tax funds to begin assessing how the City will accomplish this project.
