The City of Monmouth Public Works Department and Street Engineers are working toward adding additional parking to the downtown area. Mayor Rod Davies explains what regulations have to be met:
“I think there has been some general support, a general consensus of support of trying to increase parking around the downtown. So our Public Works folks are working with our Street Engineers to make sure that the streets are wide enough, the angle of the angle parking is appropriate, we have enough handicap accessible spaces available, the appropriate number of brakes in the curb and sidewalk to accommodate those with special needs to get there. There is a lot of regulations that dictate what you can and cannot do and we want to make sure we touch all those basis,” Mayor Davies states.
Mayor Davies says the City Council will be discussing further action on the parking in the downtown in the next couple of months.
