Mr. John C. Strawhacker, Sr., 76, of Galesburg, died at 8:21 p.m. Friday, February 14, 2020, at home.

John was born December 2, 1943, in Galesburg, the son of Carl and Evelyn (Kimler) Strawhacker.  He married Edna Charlene Links on November 29, 1982 in Galesburg.  She preceded him in death on October 4, 2015.

He is survived by a son, John (and Tamara) Strawhacker, Jr. of LaVista, Nebraska; a daughter, Jenifer (and Roy) Christofferson of Vine Grove, Kentucky; a brother, Jerald (and Joan) Strawhacker of Kokomo, Indiana; a sister, Joyce (and Eugene) Bell of Galesburg; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.  In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nancy Strawhacker. 

John graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962 and attended Lincoln Technical.  John served in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1967 and was stationed in Germany.  He worked for Outboard Marine Corporation/ Gale Products Division for over 20 years.  He then worked in maintenance for NAIER for 23 years.  John was a member of the Galesburg Archery Club and the Galesburg American Legion Post #285.  He loved hunting, fishing and cars. 

Cremation will be accorded.  Visitation will be at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel at a later date.  Graveside services will follow the service at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.  Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
