Mona Jo Rodriguez, 46, of Peoria Heights, died at 7:12 p.m. Saturday, February 15, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
Mona was born July 3, 1973 in Galesburg, the daughter of Steven and Debra Kay (Stremmel) Rodriguez. Mona is survived by her father, Steven of Galesburg; two sons, David Rodriguez-Harris of Bloomington and Darrien Rodriguez-Harris of Galesburg; one daughter, DaShae Rodriguez-Harris of Dekalb; and one grandson, Lucien, on the way. Mona is also survived by one sister, Roxanne Rodriguez of Peoria Heights; two nieces, Kaylyn Rodriguez-Alderman of Peoria and Kirsten Rodriguez-Alderman of Peoria Heights; and many other loving family members and friends.
Mona graduated from Hamilton Technical College with a degree as a medical assistant. She spent several years working for LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics as a phlebotomist. Since moving back to the area, Mona had been working with her sister remodeling and rehabbing homes. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and spending time with her family. Mona was always willing to lend a helping hand when one was needed.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, February 21, 2020 at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg, with funeral services following at 12 p.m. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Warren Co, rural Galesburg. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family in care of Watson Thomas Funeral Home, 1849 N. Seminary St., Galesburg, IL 61401.
