Alice Main, 90, of Altona, passed away peacefully under Hospice care on March 3, 2020.

Alice Louise Main, nee Krueger, was born in Wamego, Kansas on October 20, 1929, to Rev. Theophil and Emma (Sitz) Krueger.  She was raised in Kansas and relocated with her family, to Columbus, OH.  The daughter of a Lutheran pastor, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Parish work from Capital University in Columbus.  Following her graduation, Alice moved to Los Angeles, California to work as a parish assistant in a Lutheran Church. There she met Clark Main who was serving in the US Marine Corps. They were married on February 6, 1955 in Los Angeles, and returned to Altona to the family farm.  She was a homemaker and active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Alice loved the beach, gardening, exercising, reading and completing crossword puzzles. She was an avid Cubs and Bears fan, and the Bulls of the 1990s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clark in 1998, and her parents. Alice is survived by her five children: Kim (Charles) Screen, Pooler Ga; Kevin (Linda) Main of Altona; Kerry (Ray)McGraw of Cedar Rapids, IA; Kreg (Stephanie) Main of Altona, and Kirsten (Rob) Knapp of Naperville, IL.  She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren:  Clark and Kelly Screen, Emily (Dave) Harris, Jason (Cari) Main, Elyse (Jimmy Eiker) McGraw, Kendra (Chris) Ingram, Courtney (Josh) Koster, Amber (Tim) Fleming, Adam (Amanda) Main, Aubrey (Brett) Lundeen, Aleck Main, Caleb and Lindsay Knapp.  Alice was especially proud to be the great grandmother of nineteen.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2020 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois. Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Interment will be at the Oneida Cemetery in Oneida, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altona, Illinois. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Oneida, Illinois is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhome.com.
