Mr. L.A. “Don” Myrick, 80, of Henderson Illinois, died at 11:42 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2020 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria Illinois.

He was born April 2, 1939 in Galesburg, the son of Edna Myrick. He married Barbara A. Rossell on August 28, 1960 in Galesburg.  She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Kevin Myrick of Galesburg; three daughters, Deb (and Pat) Pendergast of Galesburg, Anita Lee of Millis Massachusetts and Connie Helms of Abingdon; two grandchildren, Jacob R. Pendergast of Peoria and Anna G. Pendergast of Galesburg; his black lab, Buttons.  He was preceded in death by his mother.

Don worked as a Carman for BNSF Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 2001. He loved old cars, drinking beer, wrestling, trains, fishing, hunting and telling stories. He liked giving people nicknames.  His garage became the “house of wisdom” featuring the three wise men, “the Preacher”, “Judge” and “Sheriff” and also “Stash”.

Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Service will follow at 12:00 Noon with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg. The family would like to invite everyone to a luncheon at the Henderson Methodist Church after burial. Memorial may be made to the Henderson Methodist church, Henderson Fire Department or the Knox Vet Clinic, Dr. Siever DVM. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
