Mr. Michael Thomas “Mike” Hurst, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died 6:21 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2020 at his home. 

He was born December 18, 1945 in Grafton, North Dakota to Tom and Betty (Lilke) Hurst.  He married Bonnie Stohr.  He later married Suzanne M. Gonder May 1, 1991 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Michael A. (and Maria) Hurst of Peoria, Illinois and Sean Copher of Kenosha, Wisconsin, three daughters, Ronda (and Kelly Applegate) Copher of Sloatsburg, New York, Robin Roberson of Galesburg, and Rachel Pinkalla of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two brothers, Terry (and Susan) Hurst of Grand Forks, North Dakota and Jim Hurst of Tampa, Florida, 13 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a son William Thomas “Bill” Hurst. 

Mike graduated from Williston High School in Williston, North Dakota.  He was trained as a Linotype operator in the printing trade and later moved to various management roles for the Galesburg Register Mail.  After more than 30 years at the Register Mail he retired in April of 2001.  He was a member of the National Rifle Association.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing. 

As Mike requested, cremation will be accorded.  There is no visitation or service planned.  Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
