The Knox Community Health Center (KCHC) continues efforts to increase access to care for the
community with the recent addition of Benjamin Clark, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC);
Mr. Clark began seeing patients in the Knox Community Health Center in August 2024.
Benjamin received his Master of Science Nursing as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Herzing
University and his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Methodist College of Nursing. He additionally brings
experience working in critical care (ICU) settings, including COVID ICU work in Chicago from 2020-2024.
When asked why he chose the Community Health Center located in Galesburg, Mr. Clark stated “I chose to join the
Knox Community Health Center because I am passionate about providing quality mental health care to small town
communities. Rual areas like Galesburg, IL often face significant barriers to accessing psychiatric services, and I
believe that everyone – regardless of where they live – deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based care.
“Benjamin’s specialized experience in psychiatric mental health brings great value to the care we provide for patients at
the Knox Community Health Center,” said Michele Gabriel, Public Health Administrator and CEO; it is always a
privilege to have providers on staff who believe in the mission of the community health center program. The increase in
access brought by Mr. Clark’s service is a tremendous asset for Knox County community members and our many
medial and behavioral health partners.”
Clark joins physician Robert Wagner; nurse practitioner Hannah Erickson; licensed clinical social workers William
Barnes and Crystal Johnson; and licensed clinical professional counselor Chunrong Zhao offering medical and
behavioral services for patients of all ages.
