William “Bill” Mettler

William “Bill” Mettler, 68, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 6:25 p.m., Sunday, April 5, 2020 at his home.   

Bill was born April 10, 1951 in Monmouth, IL, the son of Billy Lee and Betty Lou (Shawler) Mettler.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1969.  He later received his Associates of Arts Degree and worked towards his business degree from ASU West, Phoenix, AZ.  

Bill served with the United States Army from 1970-1976 earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. 

Bill was a laborer in the construction field.   He enjoyed fishing and many other outdoor activities and spending time with his loved ones.   

Survivors include  his daughter, Cassie (James Bozym) Mettler of Galesburg, IL; step-daughter, Brenda (Doug) Sage of Cameron, IL; significant other, Peggy Mettler of Monmouth; grandson, Michael (Kim Corben) Johnson of Abingdon, IL; granddaughters, Katelyn Burk of Monmouth, IL, Courtney (Rene Tovar) Sage of Arlington Heights, IL; three brothers, Gary (Carolyn) Mettler and  Joe  Mettler both of Lake of the Ozarks, MO and Ron Mettler of Edgerton, WI; nieces and nephews, Cody, Jadie, Jenny, Shawnda, Trona and Whitney. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Angie Valdez and one nephew, Jessie Mettler. 

Cremation rites have been accorded.  No services are planned at this time.  A Celebration of Life will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society-Warren County Chapter.  McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
