Duane R. VanHyfte, age 82, of Lake Warren, Monmouth, Illinois, passed
away at 3:53 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at his residence. He was born
April 7, 1938 in Moline, Illinois, the son of Robert and Pauline
(Rogers) VanHyfte. Duane attended Moline High School and graduated with
the Class of 1956. For a time, he attended Monmouth College. On October
4, 1958, Duane married Patricia Ann Woods in Moline, Illinois and she is
surviving. Duane began work opening stores for Eagle Foods, where for a
time he managed the store in the Quad Cities. Duane owned and operated a
small grocery store in Windsor, Illinois. Duane then worked as a route
driver for Coca-Cola. He also drove trucks for Munson Transportation,
Asche Trucking, and Martin Trucking. In 2003, Duane retired from
trucking and began making deliveries for Axline Pharmacy in Monmouth. In his younger years, Duane coached Little League and Pony League baseball. Duane enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, and being around people. He was a sports fan, watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and the New Orleans Saints. Duane was a huge supporter of Lake Warren, offering his time and energy wherever it was needed.

Duane is survived by his wife Patricia, one daughter, Jenelle (Rick)
Boughton of Monmouth, Illinois, two sons; Mark (Flo) VanHyfte of
Mattoon, Illinois and Scott (Michele) VanHyfte of Gays, Illinois,
grandchildren; Emma Buford, Anna VanHyfte, Kierstin Cline, Zackary
VanHyfte, Madaliene Boughton, Samantha Boughton, Alexia Boughton, and
one great-grandchild, Hensley Buford. He is also survived by one sister,
Marti Reynolds of Apache Junction, Arizona and two nieces; Julie Chico
and Tammy Landau. He is preceded in death by his parents and one
daughter, Theresa Ann.

As were Duane’s wishes, cremation is being accorded. A memorial service
will be held at a later date at Lake Warren. A memorial is being
