Starting the second week of June, the Warren County will be going to a four day work week. Warren County Board Finance Committee Chairman Mike Pearson says the county board voted for this change at their meeting yesterday (WED). In 30 days, the courthouse will only be open Monday through Thursday. Currently the courthouse is not open to the public except for appoitment only. Pearson says two secretaries at the jail and 14 employees at the court house will be affected by the change of hours, but they will keep their benefits..

“We debated. Do we layoff so many people, and lose their expertise? Or do we cut back our work hours, and if we do that that, fortunatley our insurance carrier allow us, because of these times, to say okay, even though we cut the hours back to part time where you would not be insurable, that we can still maintain your health insurance and all the other benefits that go with it.”

If this process takes 6 months, Warren County would save about $40,000. Pearson said that the board will be looking for other cost saving measures.
