Iowa State Fair Cancelled But Drops the 50% Capacity Limit

Iowa is taking the next big step toward reopening. Governor Kim Reynolds says restaurants can open to their full capacity starting tomorrow. There will continue to be some social distancing requirements, but Iowa is dropping its 50-percent capacity cap. Restaurants in the Illinois-half of the Quad Cities will have to wait until the end of the month before they can open their dining rooms at all.

(Des Moines, IA)  —  No corndogs, no concerts, and no 4H shows. The Iowa State Fair has been canceled. Fair managers yesterday said they pulled the plug to keep people safe from the coronavirus. It’s the first time since World War Two that there won’t be a fair in Des Moines. Illinois’ State Fair managers have not yet made a decision on the fair in Springfield.
