Clifford E. West, age 84, of Kirkwood, Illinois passed away at 4:58 pm
on Sunday July 5, 2020 at OSF St.Francis Medical Center in Peoria,
Illinois. Clifford was born on December 21, 1935 in Neelyville,
Missouri; and is the son of Oscar Lee and Dora Ellen (Spitzig) West.
Clifford was raised in Maynard, Arkansas where he attended the local
schools. On February 9, 1959, he married Cora Charlene Long in Maynard,
Arkansas and she is surviving him. Clifford has been a farmer all of his
life. He came to this area in 1967 and began employment as an assembler
at Admiral / Maytag Corporation in Galesburg for thirty three years
until his retirement. He was of the Baptist Faith. Clifford loved to
garden and grow vegetables. His sweet corn is known by many in this
area, and he also has raised his own field of cotton here in Illinois.
Clifford also enjoyed mechanics and working on his tractor; and often
talked finances and the Army with his grandson.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Cora West of Kirkwood, Illinois, her daughter, Sandra Mims and Jimmie of Galesburg, IL, and three sons, Charles West of Galesburg, IL; David West and Jody of Kirkwood, IL; and Johnny West in Wisconsin. There are nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also surviving. Clifford is survived by three sisters, Geneva Geffers and Dick of Galesburg, IL; Mary Hill in Tennessee; and Shirley Sullivan and Jerry in Maynard, Arkansas. There are six brothers, Ray West and Pat of Knoxville, IL; Jim West and Virginia of Cameron, IL; Glen West and Bessie of Cameron, IL; Gary West and Martha of Cameron, IL; Lonnie West of Abingdon, IL; and Donnie West and Mary of Cameron, IL. Numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives are also surviving.

He is preceded in his death by his parents, one grandson, one great grandson, and his brother in law.

A graveside funeral service is planned on Thursday July 9, 2020 at 10:30
at the Silent Home Cemetery. CDC recommendations and social distancing
is recommended. No visitation hours are currently being planned by his
