Geraldine R. Collins, of Galesburg, passed away on July 25, 2020 at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.
She was born on December 30, 1924 in Galesburg, the daughter of Ray H. and Helen (Nelson) Myers. Geraldine spent most of her life in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School. She married William J. Collins on November 11, 1950 and gave birth to a son, Michael W. Collins on December 9, 1951. Sadly, Michael passed away August 31, 1961 at the age of 10. Her husband passed away on April 13, 1991.
Geraldine worked many years for Illinois Power Company as secretary to Jack McGuire who was the office manager. She also worked several years for United Way of Knox County. She was a member of the Professional Secretaries Club. Geraldine belonged to both Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and Corpus Christi Church, both in Galesburg. She belonged to the Corpus Christi Altar and Rosary Society.
Geraldine made many friends over the years of her life and she will be greatly missed.
Cremation will be accorded. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020 at St. Joseph Cemetery, Galesburg. Deacon Michael Crummer will officiate.
