Henderson County accident leads to serious injuries

Two Iowa residents were injured in a accident in Henderson County just after noon on Thursday, July 2nd. According to the Illinois State Police, 75-year-old Charles Gartin of Russell, Iowa was traveling east on US 34 when he made an improper turn at 700 East. His vehicle was struck in the rear by a semi driven by 45-year-old WIlliam Toops of Kirkwood. Gartin and his passenger 73-year-old Charlene Gartin were both transported to a local area hospital with serious injuries. Toops was not injured. Charles Gartin was issued a citation for Making an Improper Turn.
