Michael D. Widener, 70, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 5:25 pm, Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Roseville Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Roseville, IL.

Mike was born July 12, 1949 in Monmouth, IL the son of Elville W. “Bill” and Melba Jean (Wells) Widener.  He was raised and educated in Monmouth, graduating from Monmouth High School in 1967. He later attended Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.

Michael served as Drill Sargent stationed at Ft. Dix with the United States Army during Vietnam War.

He worked as a floor supervisor at Wilson Foods in Monmouth before retiring.  He later retired from Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg where he worked as a painter with 3rd shift paint crew.

He enjoyed fishing and taking his boat to the cabin along the river.  He also like to drive around Monmouth early in the morning.

Survivors include his children, DeeDee Hagar, Jason Widener and Dana Reid; several grandchildren; his brother, Scott (Carie) Widener of Monmouth, IL and his two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William David Widener; two sisters, Michelle Widener and Nancy Kay Widener.

Cremation has been accorded with a private graveside service at Warren County Memorial Park, Monmouth to be held at a later date.  Memorials may be given to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities and left at the funeral home.
