In the upcoming general election on November 3rd, voters will have the option of choosing a Judge for the 9th Judicial Circuit.

Appointed Judge Emily Sutton is running on the Democratic ballot and currently holds the position after being appointed by the Supreme Court of Illinois to fill the vacancy of retiring Judge Paul Mangieri:

“I have been a judge for about a year now. I got appointed last year by the Illinois Supreme Court to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Paul Mangieri out of Galesburg. So I have been in Galesburg for the past year hearing a variety of cases. A judge here in the Ninth Circuit has to hear a lot of different things. I have handled matters from probate to child custody, orders of protection, misdemeanors, felonies, DUI’s, traffic tickets, you name it, I have probably had to hear it in the past year or so, which works out well because my background is broad as well,” Judge Sutton says.

Sutton has been an attorney for 16 years and resides in Macomb with her family. On the Republican ballot will be Andrew Doyle, who is currently the Warren County States Attorney.
