Harvey Lee Sloan, 74, of Galesburg, Illinois died 5:34 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at his home.

He was born April 12, 1946 in Galesburg to Glenn and Helen (Lucas) Sloan.  He married Sheryl Darlene Gregory August 24, 1969 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  She survives. 

Also surviving are two daughters, Teresa Sloan of Galesburg and Jeannette Wilson of Galesburg, a sister, Joyce (and Joe) Patterson of Galesburg, two granddaughters, Cecilia (and Tom) Boone and Sara Wunder, two nephews, Chuck Patterson and David Paterson, two great nephews, Christopher Patterson and Eddie Patterson, a great niece, Valerie Patterson, and a great-great niece, Ashley Paterson. 

Harvey graduated from Galesburg High School in 1963.  He served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam for four years.  He then worked for Admiral/Maytag for 38 years and retired in 2002. He was a member of Central Congregational Church in Galesburg.  Harvey was a “Handyman” and was always fixing things around the house.  He was a sports fanatic and coached little league and girls softball.  He was a Chicago Cubs and White Sox fan.  Most of all he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. 

Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel.  Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel.  Pastor Andrew Wingo will officiate.  Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery, Galesburg with military rites by the VFW/American Legion Honor Guard.  Memorials may be made to Hope Lodge in Iowa City.  Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com
