Zachary Michael Dee, 28, of Abingdon, died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with a lifelong illness.
Zach was born September 5, 1991 in Aledo. Zach is survived by his mother and step father, Tracy and Donny Crawley of Abingdon; his father, Mike Dee of Galesburg; maternal grandparents, William and Rosemary O’Daniel of Galesburg; and his paternal grandmother, Colleen Dee of Galesburg. Zach is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins, including his uncle John (Elizabeth) O’Daniel of Galesburg and a cousin, Kaitlyn O’Daniel of Galesburg; two step brothers, Aaron and Jacob Crawley both of Indiana; and two step sisters, Felicia Crawley of Indiana and Amanda Kemp of Galesburg. Zach was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Jim Dee; and his sister, Kory O’Daniel on May 21, 2017.
Music was Zach’s life. He loved to perform having his first on stage experience at the age of 4 at a Hard Rock Café. He loved to spend time writing his own music. He was a warrior for the little guy. So much so he was an active member of Anonymous. Zach was a skateboarding enthusiast. Throughout his years, Zach created a vast group of friends whom he loved and cared for deeply. His friends called him “Diesel,” because once you got him going he couldn’t be stopped. Although his life was short he has left behind many memories that will carry on with those who knew and loved him.
Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of Zach’s life and visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Watson Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.
