Everett Gaylord (Gay) Bowman 73

Gay Bowman, a longtime resident of Kirkwood, IL, died on September 10 in
the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.   Gay was born on
September 26, 1946 to Everett and Bernadine Bowman of Monmouth.  He is
survived by his wife Mary, his son Jeremy Hull, his wife Sheri of Piper
City, grandchildren Kenzie, Kayla, Kass, his daughter Tiffany Ward
Brooks and her husband James of Moro IL, their children Emma and Eliza,
his sisters Sally Bowman and Karen Angotti of Monmouth, her husband
Joseph Angotti, their sons Mark Angotti and Andrew Angotti, his wife
Kim, his great niece Jess, his great nephew Nick.   He is survived by
six great children.

Gay worked closely with his father at Bowman Colwell Department Store in
Monmouth, and worked tirelessly at the family farm in Monmouth, raising
cattle, growing crops and tending to horses. He managed a furniture
store in Monmouth for several years.

Gay was an outdoor enthusiast.  He loved to spend time on the
Mississippi River where had a boat and a cabin. He looked forward to
summers when he could take his relatives water skiing and camping.    He
went duck hunting on the river every year and was an avid fisherman.

Gay was an enthusiastic member of the MotoGuzzi motorcycle club of
Kirkwood for 35 years, where he and his wife Mary would organize and
participate in annual trips to various parts of the country. Gay was a
Sergeant in the United States Airforce from 1964 to 1968 where he was
stationed at Offutt Airbase in Nebraska.

Gay took great pride and joy in his retirement job when he drove a
school bus that took special needs children to their schools throughout
Warren County. Gay also was a proud foster parent for 12 years.

A Celebration of Life is planned from 2:00-5:00 PM on Saturday, October
17, 2020 at the American Legion in Monmouth, Illinois. Charitable
donations can be made to the Rainbow Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center of Monmouth, or VA Hospice/ICU in Iowa City. For more
