Harold F. Colwell, 87, of Cameron, died at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, September 13, 2020, in the emergency room of OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
He was born October 11, 1932, in Appleton, Illinois, the son of William and Gladys (Wall) Colwell. He married Nora L. Keith on January 19, 1951, in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on April 13, 2020, after more than 69 years of marriage.
He is survived by three daughters, Betty Davis and Judy Colwell, both of Cameron and Cherie Miller of Galesburg; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a great-great grandson.
Harold had a 46-year career in the railroad industry before retiring. He had worked at Koppers and Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. Harold was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and being outdoors. Harold played the guitar and loved country music. He was a skilled carpenter, who built his own home in Cameron.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020, in Silent Home Cemetery in Cameron. Rev. Mary Runge will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
