Macomb Boys Golf Coach Duncan Thinks IHSA State Finals Still Possible

Share

Following their regularly scheduled board meeting yesterday, the IHSA eased their restrictions on the winter, spring and summer season game limits. The initial Return to Activities guidelines back in July established the limitations of two contests per week but the IHSA will now revert to their normal season game limitations as dictated by IHSA by-laws. Postseasons were limited to just regional-type competitions only as well. There has been some rumors that that could even change. That would be welcome news for Macomb Bomber boys golf coach, Greg Duncan. His team is coming off a state qualifying run in 2019 and has five of its top six scorers back for 2020. Duncan’s squad has posted a school record 18 hole team score of 295 already this fall. They would have an excellent chance to get back to the state tournament this fall, but need a change of heart by the IHSA in regards to only playing regional tournaments for this fall. Duncan is among many coaches that think a state tournament is doable.
