Chicago Public Schools is hoping to begin winter sports next month. The Sun Times reports CPS is planning to proceed with the Illinois High School Association’s winter sports start date of November 16th. The school district is currently creating guidelines for winter sports including basketball. The guidelines will need to be approved by the city health department and the CPS Office of Student Health and Welfare. Suburban schools and private schools in Chicago have been holding basketball contact days for several months, while CPS hasn’t allowed its football or basketball teams to hold any contact days this fall.
