Robert L. Perrin,87, of Monmouth, IL formerly of Little York, IL, died at 7:27 pm, Friday, November 20, 2020 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg, IL

Robert Leslie Perrin was born April 1, 1933, to Kenneth and Dorothy (Lohse) Perrin.  He was born and lived in Little York until he was 84 years old.  Bob graduated from Little York High School in 1951.

He married the love of his life Josephine Morrell on October 5, 1958 in Little York IL. They were married for thirty-five years before she passed away on October 7 1993. Together they had two sons, Joel (Jona) Perrin Lindenwood, IL, and John (Peggy) Perrin, Monmouth, IL.  He had four grandchildren, Joshua (Cassie) Loyd, Jarid, Bradley, and Katie Perrin; his great grandchildren, Clayton, John & Mason Loyd.

Bob was the town mechanic for a total of thirty-three years. First working for Goff’s Service Station and then purchasing the station in 1974, where you could find the coldest pop in town. Six days a week, you could rely on him to notify the townspeople it was time to eat by proudly blowing the noon whistle. He worked for Munson Transportation and was one of the last employees.  On weekends you could find him detailing neighborhood vehicles.

Bob was a long-standing member of the Little York Methodist Church.  He served on the Little York Fire Department as an Assistant Fire Chief.  Bob was a member of the Village Board and the Little York Cemetery Board. After he retired, he worked as the custodian for the bank and the fire station.  He was trusted by many, which is why he had keys to the city.   He spent many years mowing, yard work, and helping in the neighboring farming community.

He loved catfish, especially on weekends, and bantering with family and friends, best known for his one-liners.  He also enjoyed vacationing with his wife, Josephine and later working with his sons. For sixty years, his only fashion statement was that of a work uniform.  His hobby, was giving himself away, to anyone that asked.

Survivors also include his brother, Jerry Perrin of Eldridge, IA; sister, Marilyn Perrin of Monmouth, IL; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; brothers, Raymond Perrin and Donnie Perrin; his sister, Barbara Owens and his uncle, Wilbur “Uncle Bill” Perrin.

A private family interment will take place at Little York Cemetery, Little York, IL   No public visitation or services are being held at this time.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Little York Fire Department and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL is in charge of the arrangements.
