Robert “Bob” B. Wells, age 79, of Monmouth, Illinois, passed away at OSF
St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois at 1:17 pm on Saturday,
December 5, 2020. Bob was born on March 23, 194, in Massac County near
Brookport, Illinois to Charles L. and Mary W. (Owens) Wells. Bob came to
the Monmouth area at the age of 5.  He attended local schools and was a
member of Monmouth High School, class of 1959. Robert married Dixie
Arlene Mettler on June 4, 1961, at the First Baptist Church in Monmouth.
Bob began work as a “Body Man” for Chuck Woods and Community Motors at
the Ford garage. He later worked for Wilson Foods locally in maintenance
as a fabricator until his retirement in 2003. Bob and his amazing
carpentry skills to do many odd jobs for local. He was an active member
of Faith United Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, and he
was known to do many repairs and maintenance around the church. Bob was
currently an Alderman for the 3rd Ward of the City of Monmouth, which he
has served for the past fourteen years. Bob loved being with his family,
especially during fishing trips to Minnesota. He was a huge country
music fan, and he loved his cat Precious.

Surviving him are his wife of 59 years, Dixie Wells of Monmouth, and two
daughters, Sherri Heth and Tim of Metamora, Illinois, and Bobbi Uddin
and Jeff of Monmouth, Illinois. Also surviving  are five grandchildren,
Sara (Heth) Peeler and Josh, Nicholas and Katherine Heth, Andrew and
Daniel Uddin, along with one great-granddaughter, Isabella Peeler. He is
also survived by his brother, Donald L.Wells of Monmouth, Illinois. He
is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jim Wells, and his
sister, Alma (Wells) McVey.

A private family funeral service is planned for Friday, December 11,
2020, at Turnbull Funeral Home in Monmouth. Social distancing and Center
for Disease Control recommendations are being observed. Interment will
follow at Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may pay their
respects for Bob Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Turnbull Funeral Home in
Monmouth. Memorials may be made to Faith United Presbyterian Church. To leave a remembrance or for more information please visit
