MRHS Senior Jack Thompson Trying to Make the Best Out of a Trying Situation

Share

Most high school sports athletes around the state of Illinois have been on hiatus since mid-March of 2020. The IHSA shut down all interscholastic competitions on March 12th due to the coronavirus pandemic. A few outdoor sports were allowed to be played in the fall of 2020 but things have certainly not been the same since the shutdown. Monmouth-Roseville High School senior 3-sport standout Jack Thompson has so far missed his junior baseball and senior football season. Now with questions about safety still lingering around the pandemic, his senior basketball season is in serious jeopardy, as well. Thompson says he has chosen to take a positive approach to the whole situation.

With the 2020 fall high school football and boys soccer seasons currently being postponed to spring and summer of 2021, some student-athletes took advantage of being able to take part in a sport that they’ve never had the opportunity to play in previous years. Thompson was one of those athletes that chose to compete in a sport that he has always loved but never had the chance to play competitively…..golf. Again, making lemonade out of lemons.
