Mrs. Katherine E. “Katie” Cross, 90, of Galesburg, Illinois passed away at 8:41 am Saturday, February 20, 2021 at her home.

Katie was born October 7, 1930 of Monmouth, Illinois the daughter of Harry and Fern (Straight) Hanson. She married Earl “Dean” Cross on November 20, 1955 in Monmouth, he preceded her in death on July 5, 2000.

Katie is survived by her son, Larry (and Terry) Cross of Galesburg and several nieces and nephews.

Katie worked as the receptionist for Dr. Westergren’s dental office, retiring in 1995. She graduated from Monmouth High School in 1950.  Katie enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome. Some of their favorite places included, Daytona, Florida to NASCAR races and to the casino boats in Biloxi, Mississippi to play the penny slots. Katie also loved to crochet.

Visitation will be from 10:00-Noon, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Funeral Services will follow at Noon at the chapel with Chaplain Jordan Knight officiating. Due to guidelines associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing and facemasks will be required with limited occupancy.  Those wishing to attend the funeral “virtually” may watch the live broadcast at Noon Thursday on the funeral home’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Hinchliff-Pearson-West-Funeral-Directors-and-Cremation-Services-160333664037824   Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer ’s disease Foundation. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
