The United Red Storm boys basketball team swept a pair of road games over the weekend to start their season at (2-0). The Red Storm beat Riverdale 73-66 on Friday night. Declan Flynn led way with 25 points. Jackson Bergen and Cormaic Flynn were also in double figures with 21 and 15 points, respectively. United knocked off ROWVA/Williamsfield on Saturday 53-33. This time around, it was Cormaic Flynn leading the Red Storm in scoring with 15 points. Aiden Parkins chipped in with ten points for United as well.
The United Red Storm girls fell to ROWVA/Williamsfield at home 51-30 on Saturday afternoon to begin their season. Jennifer Shimmin had ten points to lead United.

The West Central Heat girls basketball team has a new coach in Jackson Kane. Kane’s girls earned him his first varsity career win as the Heat win at Ridgewood 43-33 on Saturday. Mady Reed led West Central with 18 points. Megan Schaley had 15 for the Lady Heat to finish in double figures also.

The West Central Heat boys lost to a very good Ridgewood ball club 96-29 on Saturday. Devin Shaw led West Central with 10 points. Ganon Greenman poured in a school-record 51 points for Ridgewood.

The Abingdon-Avon girls basketball team started their season on Saturday in Macomb. The Lady Tornadoes beat the Bombers 46-39. Ashley Jones led A-Town with 17 points. Brook Pieper and Emma Ginther were also in double figures with 12 points apiece. Macomb’s leading scorer was Kaitlyn Robinson with 13 points.

The Galesburg Silver Streak girls basketball jumped on Knoxville early on and didn’t let up on the gas to improve their overall record to (3-0). The Streaks led 40-6 at the half and cruised to a 64-22 victory at the GHS Fieldhouse. Senior standout Riley Jenkins led Galesburg with 17 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Kynlee Stearns led Knoxville with seven points.
